Peabody
& Stearns designed numerous commercial
buildings, many for their home city of Boston. They designed
the Park Square Railroad Station in 1876 (dem.), the R. H.
White Warehouse (1883), the curved Boston Exchange Building
(1887-1891) and the tower atop the Boston Custom House (1911-1914),
among many others. Many of Peabodys designs incorporated
a tower, which became an early signature element.
